For Medical Professionals
Atopic dermatitis, or eczema, is a life-altering inflammatory skin disorder that is affecting a growing number of people globally. Currently 10-20% of children and 4-7% of adults live with this chronic disease. In response to the recent research related to psoriasis that resulted in multiple new biologic and small molecule drugs targeting psoriasis pathogenic pathways, the development of safer and more effective therapies for atopic dermatitis has attracted growing interest among pharma and medical investigators.
Co-founded in late 2014 by Drs. Amy Paller and Emma Guttman-Yassky, the International Eczema Council (IEC) is a global nonprofit organization led by dermatology experts on atopic dermatitis who are committed to supporting advancements in our understanding and management of this debilitating disease.
The IEC is both a resource and partner to medical professionals. Here you will find educational materials, resources, news, and information about upcoming Events. To learn about the latest therapies and clinical trials looking for qualified atopic dermatitis patients, visit our Research pages, where you will also find information about seed funding opportunities and research projects the IEC has or is currently funding.
The IEC welcomes your participation and support. If you are a dermatologist interested in atopic dermatitis, we invite you to apply to become an IEC Councilor or Associate. IEC Councilors are experts who are recognized to have contributed significantly to the field. IEC Associates are either younger individuals wanting to become experts or more senior dermatologists who have rather recently begun to perform research related to atopic dermatitis.
Please support our important research by joining the Friends of IEC and making a tax deductible donation.
